What romanian word constitutes as "any" in this sentence?

I wrote: "There is not snow in the house". Now, I am not fluent in English. Is 'any' always required in negated phrases like this, or can it be omitted?

I don't think "any" is actually required in English, but it sounds much more natural. (Also reasonably natural would be "There is no snow in the house".)
