The Assignment of Work Areas by Duolingo

I already went through the course one time and as I go back to review I like to CHOOSE what areas to STRENGTHEN. When I first went through the course I was doing about three areas a day, but now I do not have much time available and I have reduced the number of areas to complete to one. However, not only someone in Duolingo is assigning the areas to work on for me BUT they are assigning more than one area to complete, often 2 or 3, sometimes more. Why? I would like to choose the areas myself but if the staff at Duolingo feels I should work on something else on a particular day, then assign ONE area or task, not 2, 3, 4 or more. Thank you.

You can do that. Just do not press the "Strengthen" button that is displayed near the tree, but instead click open the skill that you want to strengthen, and then select "strengthen" within that skill. That's how I do it.

Unfortunately, I can't understand this part. For me, Duolingo does not set the number of skills to complete. I can strengthen just one skill, or several, just as I like.

Oh, and after seeing phokins1's reply: I don't keep all my skills golden. There is no need to do that. I reinforce the skills whenever I feel like it, and normally I choose the ones that are very un-golden. ;-) But there's no obligation to absolutely keep everything golden.

I have been doing what you suggested. I was just wondering (now I know) whether somebody was assigning tasks or whether the computer system does it.
