Students cannot advance!

I currently teach Spanish classes in 4th-8th Grade and they are all using Duolingo for their online portion. It has been very useful so far however most are on the 3rd or 4th level in the tree and they have taken it numerous times. Then it will not pass them to the next level. At first, I thought it was because of too many mistakes and they needed to retake it, and then I thought it was an internet problem but it doesn't seem to be either. How can my students advance to the next level instead of having to retake the same lesson 10 times. It is very frustrating! Thank you

Your level is an indication of how many points you have earned. There is a chart of the levels and how many XP are required for each level here: http://duolingo.wikia.com/wiki/Xp

Also your students can look on their profile page and see their current levels and how many XP they need to get to the next level.

If you mean your students can't advance to the next skill set (round circle on the "home" page) then see if this article from Duolingo's "Help" sheds any light on the situation: https://support.duolingo.com/hc/en-us/articles/204777904-I-m-stuck-why-can-t-I-open-the-next-skill-

Thank you for your response and your help. I am aware that the students need to pass the skill sets to unlock the next round circle. However our problem seems to be which ever skill set they are working on it says it is grading it and then just shuts them out and back to the home page. The lesson then says they haven't started it when in really they just finished it!

There have been more complaints about this issue. Mostly this is caused by using an outdated Operating system or an outdated Browser (e.g Internet Explorer).

That sounds like it could be their internet connection.

I had this problem and solved it. Have the student(s): 1. Sign in. 2. Hover mouse over their username 2. Go to settings. 3. Go to Progress Sharing 4. Type the classroom code 5. Click "Join" 6. You will see their progress. I also found that CHROME works better than MOZILLA or IE.
