Having issues with speaking lessons when using Brave Browser.

Recently switched from Chrome to Brave browser and whenever I click on the blue microphone to speak, it activates for an instant then stops. Resulting in me getting the lesson marked wrong.

This happening to anyone else?

It seems they (#BraveBrowser) are not going to do anything to solve that stupid problem. It's been reported since 2016 and maybe beyond and it is happening right now. Shame on Brave : (

Still having this problem in Brave browser even with Shields down. Looks like I'll need to use Chrome to Duolingo if I want to do the speaking lessons.

Still have that problem now, whether shields up or down.

I found out that for speaking exercises Duolingo now uses a speech-to-text service provided by Google. Google won't let any browser other than Chrome access it.

Speaking exercises on the new website only work on browsers that support the Web Speech API, the most popular being Chrome. Unfortunately, the old speech system was outdated and a burden on our system. If you use the Chrome browser, you will get speaking exercises again.

I use brave and it works fine. You might need to "drop shields" (the lowering security option in Brave) for duolingo.com for it to work properly.

Also make sure you're not accidentally hovering over a word just after you click the microphone, as that may stop it as well.

i let the shields down and same problem.Could it be that I need to speak louder?

Perhaps. Does your microphone work otherwise, in other programs?

Yes, I tried it with stupid Cortana and it worked fine.
