what books did you read?
which ones did you like?, which ones did you hate?, which one would you recommend?.
Well, I started with a series of books by the Penguin Books Publisher, such as the War of the Worlds by H.G. Wells, The Borrowers by Mary Norton or the Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, some of these novels are adapted for beginners, And I also bought The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak and Coraline by Neil Gaiman, but it was a bit difficult besides Dracula by Bram Stoker. For beginners is better some series called "level books"
Sometimes, (I'm old but I liked) I read comics because are a best first contact with the "real " english, slang, idioms..etc.
Which ones i like (almost all, but i prefer adventure), whish one i hate (those where the writter can't reach my imagination) Whish one would I recommend (the alchemist by Paulo Cohello)
That's a good book to read, not only because it is greeeeat, but also because his writing is fairly simple and you can read it in any language you are learning. I am English and I read it in English, then Japanese and I am now reading it in Spanish!
The kid used to hate the books but not anymore. - El arte de la guerra de Tsun Zu. - El principito - Padre rico, padre pobre - El señor de las moscas.
I've read a lot of books...I don't recall "hating" any of them...But I can tell my favorites are:
Crime and Punishment, Fiódor Dostoyevski
To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee
The Fault in Our Stars, John Green
Me Before You, Jojo Moyes
i havent read any of those... but I can see that some are classic... I will include in my (to read's list)
Hope you do, and enjoy them...Man, I also enjoyed "The Alchemist"...didn't mentioned 'cause you already had...That's a really special book...I will give that one as a present to my lil' bro in his 14th birthday...I hope he gets the message...
I am sure it will be a beautiful present for your brother. I mean. the first time I read "The Alchemist" i was 24 and it change my life...
I realize you been 353 days using duolingo. Grate...how you do it?, do you speak Portuguese, German and English?
Great, indeed...I would like to say I do my best, but I'm a bit off this month, because of some health issues...And well, I would rate my fluency in those languages as follows: English, 75%; Portuguese, 60%; and German, 10%....German it's quite a challenge...but I won't despair...
Thanks for asking.
Wow....Awesome.... and what is your mother language?. I hope you get better.
