Duda A/An

The ''An'' is used before a word that begins with either ''A'' ''E'' ''I'' ''O'' or ''U.'' and occasionally with H, in ''Hour.'' The ''A'' is used any other time.

For example: An animal with a banana.

Except the exception for "long u." :-)
A university, a union, an uncle, an umbrella.

Ok, but if before a word that starts with a vocal there is an adjetive that starts with a consonant , I will put "a" or "an"?
