Ahh, I was wondering about Sinterklaas Eve... but apparently that's the day before the feast of St. Nicholas (yeah that makes sense)... and it's also apparently their day to exchange gifts for the season.

What's the difference between "cadeau" and "geschenk"? I looked it up and it says they are synonyms, although I've never seen the word "geschenk" outside of the dictionaries.
