Can anyone tell me the difference between "familie" and "gezin"? Both are said to mean "family".

"Gezin" = a nuclear family, a household. Usually just parents and children, living together.

"Familie" = extended family, includes grandparents, adult children or sibilings, aunts, uncles, etc.
