My practice is not recording

Yesterday, I did one practice and then spoke to a bot on the app. It said I did over my required practice for the day, but today it says I didn't achieve my goal from yesterday and I lost a day. (I was equipped with a "save a day," so I didn't lose it entirely.) This is the 2nd time recently that that happened to me. I have lingots, so I bought more "save the days" (whatever they're called), but it's not fair that I'm being penalized when I am achieving my daily goal.

I don't know where you're located but below are the records of your XP earned on the Duolingo servers in GMT.

You need to make sure your XP is registered each day, if you want to ensure that your streak continues. Completing a lesson each day is not sufficient because you may have had connectivity issues with the Duolingo servers, or you may have closed the app or web page before the XP could register.

To double-check that my XP was registered, I refresh the Duolingo web site after using it or the app. The two things I check are that the flame icon has the check mark on it and my streak number has increased as expected.

Here are some tips to prevent your streak in the future.

Losing a streak is a common complaint from people, who .......

  • use the Duolingo App
  • use an outdated operating system or an outdated browser.

Workaround for the App
Always check if your phone/tablet had synchronised with the Duolingo servers after doing a lesson. Sometimes it can take 5-10 minutes after finishing a lesson in the App.
E.g

  • have Duolingo's web version always open in the browser of your phone/tablet
  • set this browser in Desktop mode
    (maybe not possible in an iOS phone with a small screen)
  • refresh your browser after each lesson in the App, and check if the amount of XP increased in Duolingo's web version.
  • Set your daily goal to 10XP, in case of an unreliable wifi.

  • Check every day if your streek freeze is still equipped.

  • Attention:
    A streak freeze starts protecting on the day after its purchase:
    it's only an insurance for the future, it's not a free pass for the same day!
