Hey guys, this is possibly the most amazing course on duolingo. I am having so much fun right now... learning another language! I think I might be the first, besides the contributors, to access this!

Anyway, I really want to thank the awesome people who made this amazing course. Thank you nueby, kacenka, pavelprague, valaCZE, marquisedebat, jantatouse, and Iva818387 for this awesome course! I'm only level two already, and it's just so awesome! We all appreciate your hard work on this amazing course! Dekuji!

-Woof.....

Also, anyone know the difference between, diky and dekuji, and dobre and dobry?

Some of the words are easy for me to know the meaning of since I know some Serbian.

I know velky is big because velki is big in Serbian!

jsmE :-) In fact, in street Czech you can drop the "J" no problem, so it would be SME. It might not get recognized here, as we are not into street Czech. (Yet.)

The only words I know in Serbian are the ones you just showed me :)

And also, I know some better than others because when I forget them, I stare at the word until I memorize it.

We have our ways of remembering words. I'm glad to have this course since it will help me recognise Serbian words when I come across them.

And to your question - well I just started myself, but based on the notes for the second row of skills its just a different adjective ending.

Not absolutely sure on the difference between díky and děkuji, but I believe it's the difference between thanks and thank you.

dobré vs dobrý is a question of gender. Dobrý is a masculine form used to agree with masculine nouns, dobré is neuter. The feminine form is dobrá. Of course, that's just Nominative and Vocative, and only in singular...

Diky vs. dekuji = informal vs. formal.

Dobre vs. dobry = neutral gender vs. male gender (in proper Czech, in spoken Czech... well, too early to get on that thin ice)

Now I'm really curious about what you're refering to in spoken Czech. Do Czech speakers not make a difference between the two?

We often use 'dobrý' for neuter words as well, but it's informal language.

I have probably been waiting for this course for 2 years! My OH is Polish and I like to dabble in Slavic languages as every time I do I feel like I come back to Polish with a better understanding - I like a challenge. Czech being one of the closer languages, I was excited to try it. So far this has been pretty easy. There are words that are different, but the grammar is surprisingly similar. The weirdest thing is that "to" in Czech is "tamto" in Polish and "to" in Polish is more like "ono". I don't think "ono" gets used as much in Polish.. I'm by no means anywhere near fluent though, so I might be wrong.

Like Japanese, it's available on the mobile apps first. Nobody knows when it'll be available on the website as well.
