is there a reason why "eet" does not follow "dus"?

As far as I know "dus" never inflicts any inversion in a sentence.

"I find it gross" or "I think it's gross" is not a usage that springs immediately to mind in British English. There are so many other adjectives to describe a bad taste, including disgusting, revolting, unpleasant, vile, foul that I wonder why Duo decided on gross. Is it the "go to" choice in the US?
