응 can also mean yeah.

"Yeah" should be accepted for 응. "응" is very informal and isn't "yes"... it's more like a moan or a grunt of affirmation. Even "yeah" is more formal than "응", in my opinion. Please come to accept "yeah".

I thought 응 was more like um-hum (음-흠) or maybe sometimes uh-huh (어-허). Yeah sounds so much like 예 I thought it was Korean with the formality reversed. Huh used to very formal in Japanese. I wouldn't be surprised if in some corner of the word and time period 응's the one that's formal . . .
