Any other recommended languages to learn?

Hi! My name is Sami and I'm looking for another language to learn besides Spanish, I currently only know English and plan on taking a Spanish class next year. I would love feedback, so thanks!

What do you like to do? What do you enjoy reading or watching? Do you enjoy cooking? Are you really into fashion?

If you're into Judo then I would say explore Japanese. If you're into literature maybe you want to tackle Fyodor Dostoyevsky in Russian.

However if you plan on taking Spanish class next year. I would probably focus on reaching Level 25 for now.

I see thank you. I do enjoy reading quite a lot. But I also enjoy gaming online with other people which is one of the reasons I want to learn a new language.

Do you play on STEAM? If the answer is yes, then that's a great way to interact with Spanish speakers, Portuguese, Russians, French speakers etc. It is very easy to chat with anyone. You don't have to tell them that you're a native English speaker. Just write . . . hola, me llamo es Sami. ┬┐Quieres jugar Left 4 Dead 2 o Team Fortress 2?

People usually overlook Swahili but it is very fun, unique, and useful to learn. I like how it uses the same letters as English (No weird signs over/under the letters), the pronunciation is simple, many words are adopted from English, and if you plan to learn Arabic in the future it also helps. Swahili is really an amazing language and the only African language on Duo! Swahili is my highest recommendation.

First one on here that I haven't done elsewhere, so it's more tricky as I'm starting from sctratch - and getting a lovely sense of achievement when I get it right!!

For me, I like to learn things from separate language families as it makes them easier for me. I like Spanish, for the romance family, Dutch for germanic, Welsh for Celtic, Russian for Slavic, Mandarin Chinese for Sino-Tibetan, Greek for Hellenic, and then Korean which isn't necessarily in a family with anything else... Unless you believe in the Altaic languages in which case it is somehow related to Turkish and Japanese.

I'm assuming that Spanish is the first language you've started to learn so I'm recommending French for the following reasons. Firstly it is one of the easier languages on duolingo, it is close to both Spanish and English. Secondly there is a lot of literature in French. Thirdly, a lot of people speak French and there are a lot of resources.

Actually, the first language I started learning on duolingo was german. But it was on my school account.
