I was about to question the first and second letters being capitalised but I looked it up and IJ is a digraph or ligature in Dutch, so it is treated as a single letter and both get capitalised.

Grammar aside, aren't the Swedish lakes also in Western Europe? There are Vänern and Vättern which are both bigger than the IJsselmeer. Scottish lochs are much smaller in surface area but make up for it in depth (and monsters).

Maybe they meant largest man-made lake in Western Europe. My hometown is situated on it. :)
