J'apprendrais comment conjuger « apprendre », mais je suis si paresseux que je ne l'apprends jamais.

    j'apprends le français

Si tu connais d'autres personnes qui apprennent le francais, partgage cette discussion avec eux s'il te plait

Demilade, désolé d'être impoli... mais j'ai lu ton autre discussion, et es-tu vraiment sûr de parler couramment le français ? Je pense que tu as encore des choses à apprendre.

    https://www.duolingo.com/profile/Icsoyewande

why because of my level? i reset my duolingo french!

    https://www.duolingo.com/profile/Icsoyewande

but i dont really know all the grammar and what not i speak and understand and read properly but then writing is a different case i guess but i'm working on that

Non mon jugement ne se base pas du tout sur ton niveau ni contre toi personellement, mais c'est ton écriture, je vraiment doute que les francophones se trompent entre « savoir » et « connaître » ou « les » et « eux »... mais est-ce que tu parles mieux que tu écris ? Moi je pense pas du tout (que je) parler couramment le français.

You are really getting there, Midnightwards666. Your French is very understandable and almost entirely correct. The right order is still a problem in some cases. It should be 'je doute vraiment' and 'Moi, je ne pense pas du tout | parler/que je parle | français couramment' ('J'apprends le français' but 'Je parle français').

About the position of the adverb, it cannot be placed between the subject and the verb, but it can be placed between an auxiliary and a past participle. In short: never between the subject and the first verb.

    • Je veux vraiment
    • J'ai vraiment voulu
    • J'ai vraiment voulu vivre

If 'vraiment' concerns 'vivre', though, we can say, 'J'ai voulu vraiment vivre' or 'J'ai voulu vivre vraiment'.

Of course, it can also be placed before the subject: 'Vraiment, je veux', etc.

So it works like in English, except for the simple form: 'Je veux vraiment' = 'I really want'.

Demi, it is hard to believe you. For instance, you wrote 'Je parle si mieux que j'écris'. The correct word is 'tellement', not 'si'. We can also say 'bien mieux' ('much better') or 'beaucoup mieux' (the latter is not really elegant, and I would not use it in a formal context). Do we have to believe that you write 'si' but you say 'tellement', 'bien' or 'beaucoup'? Grammatically, your spoken French must be the same as your written French. The written form has additional spelling mistakes, of course, but I do not think Midnightwards666 was talking about that. All native French speakers make spelling mistakes. Being fluent is a different thing. It means you have an extensive vocabulary (thousands of words), you can easily conjugate hundreds of verbs in many tenses and your sentences are well constructed.

I am reluctant to correct your French as I will probably also make mistakes, but I think there are several errors in your sentence.

    https://www.duolingo.com/profile/relox84

That's true, there are some mistakes:

Si tu connais (savoir is used for facts, connaître is used for people/places)

d'autres personnes (des is contracted to de before an adjective)

qui apprennent (apprendre has an irregular conjugation, which is the same as the verb 'prendre')

    partage (imperative)

cette discussion (cet is for masculine nouns starting in a vowel, cette is for feminine nouns)

avec eux (tonic pronouns are used after prepositions, and the tonic form of 'ils' is 'eux')

    https://www.duolingo.com/profile/MarcD50

'Connaître' is also used for facts or immaterial things. Ex: Je connais son secret, la solution, le chemin vers la sortie, ma table de multiplication, etc.

Only 'savoir' can be used before a verb. Ex: I know how to do this = Je sais (comment) faire ça. I can swim (I know how to swim) = Je sais nager. I know (that) he lives here = Je sais qu'il vit ici.

So, it is rather complex, but yes, only 'connaître' is used for people and places.

Thank you Marc. Yes I had doubts about both of those, so am glad you mentioned them. The brackets were only there for an indication, I didn't want a non-French to potentially misread it as me being very rude to them. :)

Thank you. I don't have that confidence yet, though I note I am a few levels ahead of you. Well done! Your French is obviously much better than mine.

    https://www.duolingo.com/profile/relox84

Don't take my level into account, I'm actually a native speaker, and I simply tired the French tree to see what it's like to learn French ^^

    https://www.duolingo.com/profile/Anneduol1ngo

Your English is rather good too. Did you grow up bilingual?

    https://www.duolingo.com/profile/Icsoyewande

ohhh i knew there was something up with my sentence

    J'apprends*

There is no Oxford comma in French, and the names of the languages are not capitalised.

J'apprends l'espagnol, le français, le tchèque, le coréen, le guarani jopara et le japonais.

    https://www.duolingo.com/profile/Woof.

    Merci!

Also, I can't add accent marks on my PC.

And shoot, for some reason it annoys me when there is no oxford comma. But I'm just weird.

    https://www.duolingo.com/profile/MarcD50

I was not blaming you for the accents, hehe. I had guessed you did not have them.

I sometimes use that Oxford comma in French, but not in a short list like that. An example could be:

Nous devons étudier chaque jour, réviser nos leçons sur Duolingo, garder notre arbre doré, et nous finirons par bien connaître la langue que nous avons choisi d'apprendre.

    https://www.duolingo.com/profile/Icsoyewande

oh la la! est-ce que tu participes en activités espagnol aussi?
