Did anyone else laugh at this phrase? Next time I go to the Czech gentleman's club with my best friend and the waitress brings our beer, I will exclaim this.

Maybe it's a reincarnation thing. Last lifetime we were women, a ted' jsme muži. Next lifetime??? - A ted' jsme zvírata :-)

Check the Tips and notes or any other resource (like Wikipedia on Czech phonology). ď is a small Ď.

    It is this sound https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voiced_palatal_stop

Why not: And now we are the men"?

To me (native AmE), that sounds odd without context. It begs the question "Which men?"
