Swahili sound still not here September 2017
We have repeated been promised Swahili sound "by the end of the month" or "in a couple of weeks". That was months ago and it is still not there. What is happening with it. I can't find any new updates.
Sadly, with the problems with activity and the site change over, we're pretty much stranded with no way to call out to the team, assuming they even have checked into the site lately. We don't know what the Tanzanian branch of the Peace Corps are up to right now. As such, we can only wait.
It's up to the Duolingo staff to add speaking and listening exercises, according to Branden's first special update six months ago. The Swahili team just had to provide the audio, which he said three months ago in the third update was now complete. So we don't actually know where the hold up lies. For all we know the Swahili team think in their absence we're all using the audio exercises.
No - I don't want to do that. It's pointless. The good thing about Duolingo is that it provides the sound and the written language and gives practice on both. If I have to go and use something else for sound I may as well use something else altogether.
You may want to use other free tools like Google Translator until DL gets it done...
There must be someone who knows what is happening with it surely.... I wouldn't mind if they said - look we have problems - it won't be there until November. But to say at least twice that the sound would be there by a particular date and then for it not to be with no further information is just deeply frustrating.
Well, you could try a call out to Luis or the site staff in the main discussion forum, or ask in troubleshooting why sound isn't implemented when the audio has been completed and hope someone in a position to do something takes note. But beyond that I think we just have to be patient, as annoying as that is.
OMG- I got audio in Swahili this morning when reviewing lesson on time- thank you to every one who made it happen
