"Wanaweza kutembea"

Translation: They can walk

Why isnt this "Wanaweza tembea" or "watembea"?

This is literally "they are able to walk".

Wanaweza -- they are able
Kutembea -- to walk

It is actually possible to use just the verb stem (in this case, tembea) after some modal verbs and I think -weza is one.. but it's not so common like this.
