Just wondering if there is any distinction in Czech between 'are drinking' (right now) and 'drink' (often/constantly)?

Not gramatically, you cannot tell which one is meant without context.

Why not "drink"....and "pijou" is not Czech correct is "pijí". "pijou" is the colloquial word

Ano, správně česky je "pijí víno". Toto mi trhá uši!

Správně česky je obojí, bez ohledu na vaše otrhané uši. Mohla jste si to najít sama: https://prirucka.ujc.cas.cz/?slovo=p%C3%ADt

If you really used "a" instead of "and" then that is the reason for the rejection...
