Is the microphone gone?
For a while recently I've mostly been using the app rather than the website, and mostly doing Danish (which has never had speaking exercises).
But now I'm back on the website, and back on the German tree, and the other day I thought "hmm, I haven't had any speaking exercises for a while". I get them on the app, but not the website.
Then I thought maybe the microphone was somehow turned off in my settings. So just now, I went into my settings and... there wasn't even a microphone option!
The only things I have in my settings to turn on/off are "Speaker" and "Sound effects".
What's going on? Has Duolingo dropped the microphone option, or has something bizarre happened in my latest version of Firefox so that it doesn't even acknowledge the microphone's existence?
And if the latter, does anyone have a clue how I fix that? A microphone not working would be one thing, but this is not saying it even exists.

Current Speech API is only supported by Chrome (I am not using it), not Firefox.
They removed all older Speech API code.

Which is not helpful. In fact, if the true situation is that the microphone is currently only for Chrome, the FAQ about microphones needs to be updated!

I think your first found microphone link is an outdated information (for the old portal).
It actually may help users if "Help / FAQ" pages would be updated more regularly...
So just now, I went into my settings and... there wasn't even a microphone option!
