Does everyone get the same lessons?

I am interested to know if everybody is getting exactly the same lessons or does Duolingo use some sort of spaced repetition algorithm that repeats words based on how often you get them right or wrong, like Anki?

People get different lessons depending on what they've seen so far.

We usually don't let you advance until you have all the necessary things to do the future lessons, but yeah if you were to skip, those words would likely not appear.

Thanks for the reply Luis but I don't really understand. Does this mean that if, say, I complete several units but don't "master" them, or skip past one or another that my future lessons will all be influenced by that? As in, the words that I skipped will never appear? Maybe I haven't done enough looking around but I'm quite curious. Cheers
