Where to Find Esperanto friends?

Saluton, I just started learning Esperanto this week after wanting to take on another language that would boost my speaking skills for the future learning of Romanian languages. I am currently learning Korean and I have to take Spanish to finish high school (it sounds hectic I know). I have been trying to fill my bookmark folder with as many resources as I can. I have found so many and I have begun to fall in love with the Language. The only problem is that I don't live in an area we're people speak Esperanto it's many Spanish and English. I wanted to know if there were any sites I could go on that would help me practice speaking with other Esperanto speakers it would have to be only writing because I don't have a camera to video call or a cellphone. Any suggestions would be gladly taken. Any tips on learning Esperanto as a beginner would be well received as well. Dankon!

Wow, why the downvote? Don't other people reading along want an Esperanto-friend?

There is a reddit Esperanto Discord server you can look up, but I'm not active there so I can't tell you if it's very active. There are many, many Telegram groups, though! telegramo.org has a great list of Esperanto Telegram groups.

If you have Minecraft, there is a pretty active server called EsperaMondo as well!

On Twitter, there are a surprising amount of EO speakers there, mostly Japanese learners. You kinda have to dig a little bit to find them, but they are there!

I've heard mixed feelings about the Lernu forums in the past, but I'd still recommend it as a resource for you to use. They even have their own course there that you can try out.

I'm still pretty much a beginner as well, so I don't have a lot of advice to give you other than to talk in those Telegram groups and try to make friends. ^^ I've met a few other EO speakers through different sources I've mentioned, and they've been really nice and cool to talk to.

You can also try downloading Amikumu on your phone. It's kind of like Tinder for Esperanto speakers, without the romantic intent. It will let you see other speakers around you and let you chat with them. Try contacting a couple people nearby, and they're likely to know about clubs/meetups. Or you can try meeting them directly to speak Esperanto.
