Watch news in Swahili

I just came across the site for KTN News from Kenya. Live stream and appears to be in Swahili!

I just looked at it now and they were speaking in English, so I guess they have different programming at different times of the day. Probably useful to also see it in English to get more context.

For news just in Swahili, the BBC has Swahili broadcasts: https://www.youtube.com/user/SwahiliBBC

So does Deutsche Welle: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCA_Fjr6R2D8BCPENte67Paw

DW is generally only short videos and they punctuate everything with annoying noises, so I don't watch it. Here are some other news channels that have videos in Swahili that I'm subscribed to:

Kenya Citizen TV (Swahili and English) https://www.youtube.com/user/kenyacitizentv

KTN News (Swahili and English - does a lot of live streams) https://www.youtube.com/user/standardgroupkenya

Millard Ayo ... some news, some celebrity gossip, once I saw a live broadcast of a really angry preacher https://www.youtube.com/user/millardayothetza/videos

To anyone worried that their Swahili is not at the level of following the news, it's OK. Even having it on in the background helps - you'll be catching words that you know and the sounds of words that you don't know and even passively listening will activate the Swahili-learning parts of your brain and keep them active. You won't learn new words from passively hearing the language, but it may stop you from forgetting words you've already learnt if you go for a while without practice sessions. It basically tells your brain "This language is relevant."
