This would be so much easier if there weren't so many different ways to refer to onions! In American English, 파 could be 'green onions', 'spring onions', or 'scallions.' 양파 is something like 'western onion,' but to an American is probably a generic cooking onion, which could be specified as a 'yellow onion,' larger 'white onion,' also sometimes called a 'Spanish onion' ...unfortunately this is not an easy translation.
