Slow response to oral questions

The response is so slow that it makes timed practice unusable. Can anything be done?

'Oral' is ambiguous. Are you talking about listening or speaking practise? And on what platform? I find that speaking practise on Android is very slow. I think that the speech recognition on Android is done by Android itself so may be a function of the phone.

Speaking practice on a PC with Windows 10 and Chrome. I have no slowness in any other application and had none in Duolingo prior to the recent "upgrade", so I think it's somehow related. It's conceivable that the problem relates to Duo not supporting Chrome properly so another browser may work better. I will try that, and if that fails I'll just wait for Duo to fix the problem.

Being related to a recent upgrade, and trying other browsers makes sense. Do you have any add-ins in Chrome that may be interfering? A quick way to turn them off is to try incognito mode. If nothing else, that information might help Duo with troubleshooting.

Thanks, that's a good idea. I don't think I have any extensions that use the microphone (and would thus be suspicious) but I do use an ad blocker and a couple of others.

It might mean your speaker isn't working, its fine with mine.

Or it could mean your browser is slow, to fix that you can download a different one

The problem that I was having has gone away. I'm not sure exactly when because I turned off the microphone for a while using Duo settings , but at least a week ago. For what it's worth I had sent Duo a description of the problem and my software environment and got a polite response.
Perhaps it helped.
