Some form of recognition for a terminated streak
Over the years I've seen many people build up impressive streaks numbering hundreds of days. It's such a shame that once their streak ends, they have absolutely nothing to show for it.
Would it be possible to award users with a terminated streak some sort of recognition that acts as evidence of their best streak? Something simple that shows up when you click their name. I'm not an IT guy so I don't know how feasible this is from a technical standpoint, just throwing this out there.
No self-serving agenda here, I intend to keep my streak going for many more years. knock on wood.
I reckon that Duo lingo should add medals and I might be opening up a discussion to try to see if we can get this done. I believe that if you got a medal when you passed certain checkpoints such as 10 days, 20 days, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600, 700, 800, 900, 1000, 2000, And so on.
P.S. I should add I reckon the medals should be after your languages.
The gap between 1000 and 2000 is simply too great, especially compared to the one between 900 and 1000 that is right next to it. If such a system was implemented, I would totally be like "oh, cool, I got an 800 medal... and a 900 medal... and a 1000 medal... wait, where's my 1100 medal? What do you mean, I have to keep a streak for as long as I have kept a streak already to get the next medal?"
Maybe something more spaced out geometrically, like 100, 150, 200, 250, 300, 400, 500, 750, 1000, 1500, etc.
I think that's a really good idea, cluney2. ASBusinessMagnet, I also agree with your suggestion.
Maybe like some user fast facts that would display when you hover over their username. I don't think that'd be too hard to implement
I can see now that I am a bit ahead how hard it will be to let go of the streak... Perhaps that's why some people keep on logging on even though they are done with learning with duolingo. Can't let it go. The medals would probably solve the problems, but would that not mean that we would leave duolingo sooner? How would that suit duolingo I wonder?
