A petition about medals.

The petition reads as so.

Medals will be awarded when the person get's to a certain landmark in their streak for example: 31 days, 365 days. If you agree than post zqq. If you disagree than post q. Be part of the movement to add medals. Let's get this done.

I would prefer to get medals for finishing courses,, you can be level 25 and never have ended it. IMO the ideal thing would be to decorate your flags with owl medals, or you could have your owl medals below your avatar or in your profile. So the idea would be, if you finish a course, you get a silver medal, and if you manage at least once to have all your skills golden, you would get the super gold owl medal!! :D

And of course, you can also have at the same time streak medals, with a number attached to it that would indicate a milestone: 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, 365, 500, 750, 1000 days of streak. The good thing of the special streak medal, is that you would keep your streak medal even though you lost your streak.

That's a good idea. I think maybe they could make Trophies for finishing courses and Medals for doing a certain day streak. And then you could get a golden trophy if you were able to get all your skills golden at once. Does that sound good.

Your idea also sounds good to me! ;-)

I don't mean to be negative, but I don't know if Luis reads our discussions. Even if you are spreading the word, the team is most likely focusing on other features that they have guaranteed for us. People have done the same thing with trying to get immersion back. So, this medal idea, which I think is great, may not flourish into existence, or at least not immediately. But, I suppose there's nothing wrong with making an attempt. ^ ^

Thank you for the advice. I don't expect it to flourish into existence immediately, perhaps never. But I reckon we should take a shot at it. I did this cause I've seen a few comments asking for rewards for getting to certain checkpoints so I reckon I'll just give it a go.

Maybe it is hope of getting a special feature like this in the future, because it is expected a forum rewrite.

''I don't know if Luis reads our discussions'' Surprisingly, he does, I've seen him comment a few times in the forums.

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/CarlosLM.

Yes, but maybe he only answers within staff posts. I don't think he has time to read a normal post of the forum, unless it has say +100 upvotes :D

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/Muddogging1

Well, let's get this to 100 upvotes then!

Sorry, but I'm too lazy to do such a campaign! I prefer to study languages, and anyway, maybe somebody from the Duolingo staff has listened to us or has had the same idea, and we'll see this feature in a future upgrade of the forum. I'll keep my fingers crossed, just in case!! ;-)

Ohh, we're the loud minority!!!! Luis will never ever listen to us!!! :P Then, the only thing we can do is........ metrics, metrics, metrics... lol

"A few times" is the key phrase. He may, possibly, look at a lot of discussions, but rarely does he reply. We don't know his life, and noting that he did admit that he doesn't give attention to feedback (in terms of the app, I think), he probably wouldn't take the time to read normal discussions that come and go.

I actually find it understandable if I were in his position. Though, I'm sure he has his priorities straight.

If you updated the app recently in past couple weeks, you might have noticed that the achievement medals changed. I think they made them less motivating, since it's not a progression through levels of achievement anymore, like equip a streak freeze -> equip a weekend freeze -> equip an outfit, like it was. Also, I would agree that medals need to be displayed on your online profile, as well as language trophies when you complete a language tree.

i'd rather that DUOLINGO makes some kind of test at the end and give us some kind of diploma/certificate

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/cluney2

This is an interesting idea. I personally would stick to the idea of medals and trophies but it's an interesting idea

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/Muddogging1

That's a very good idea, it lends credibility to the fact that Duolingo should be an accredited language learning program. You should be able to take a test that certifies you as "fundamentally fluent" in a language.

If you agree than please send this discussion to your friends, other Duo lingo users. Post it at the bottom of your comments and let's get the word out.

This qualifies as spam. Don't advertise your posts all over the forums. If you do those posts may be removed, regardless of the other content of that post.

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/cluney2

Really? I never thought of Spam in this way. I'm gonna get another Moderator to confirm what you said and if what you say is true then I'll omit this part from my list and find another way to get the word out.

It's common sense, just think about what every discussion would look like when people are telling other people to go to other posts to give their opinion, to like it etc.. E.g. a bunch of people posting unrelated things on here because they want support for a language or some idea they may have.

You have an idea and want people to support it, which is fine. Though there is no need to go around everywhere telling people to come to your post and support your idea. Just stay on topic.

Hence, any post in which you are advertising this discussion may be removed.

Excuse me. I don't think this is the right place to put this but I'm having some problems posting discussions. When I tried to post a discussion it came up with an Error. It says it's Error number 404. How do I fix this. Is Duo lingo having some issues? Should I just wait?
