Simultaneously Assigning Multiple Units for the Same Due Date.
First, I want to say that I love using Duolingo for my classes and it seems like my students really like it too, but there is one thing that really makes using it a huge burden. It looks like there is no way to simultaneously assign multiple units for the same due date. It would be fantastic if you could just choose a due date then select all of the units you want due on that date and time and assign them with just one click. Instead you have to go unit by unit, one by one, choosing the same date and time over and over for each assignment. This makes what could be a minute-long process around a 7 minute ordeal (I usually assign 10-15 units at a time).
Also, I think it would be incredible if you could create assignments for multiple groups at the same time. I have 7 groups in total. Three of them are the same level and therefore I assign the same homework and due dates for them. As of now I have to go through each group assigning exactly the same assignments for exactly the same due dates.
Today I spent about 40 minutes assigning homework for my seven groups. With a feature to simultaneously assign multiple units on the same due date and a feature to create assignments for several groups, this time could be drastically reduced. As I've said I love using Duolingo as a tool, but honestly I don't think I will be using it again next semester simply for the fact of how long it takes to create assignments. I think making this process more user-friendly would make this already amazing tool even better.
Thank you for this comment! I think this each time I want to assign three lessons/skills to my SIX sections of French II. That's 18 times I have to click "assign now."
Thank you for the feedback! I agree that there's a bunch we could do to accommodate different styles of assigning content. Additionally, we need a better way to handle multiple sections (groups) of the same class. This is certainly an area we'll be working on in the future.
Thanks for using Duolingo in your classroom & for the detailed feedback!
Hi Sean. Thanks for your response. Good to know Duolingo takes user feedback seriously. I really hope you look into it because I love Duolingo, but 30-40 minutes to assign homework for all my groups seems a bit much to me. I'm sure I'm not the only one. Cheers!
Sadly, the last Duolingo comment on this was a year ago and we still can't copy assignments to other classes like other learning platforms can. Today, I can't even assign anything to start in November, which is only 8 days away. The calendar is stuck on October.
