Can dunkel be used for colour
I was just using Google translate to help me add a word to a memorization book I have and I was going to add some colours. I added things like 'Hellgrau' or 'Hellgrün''. But I just wanted to confirm that the way you say 'Darkgrey' is 'Dunkelgrau' Because that's what google translate said. Is he correct?
yes it is correct.
By the way. In german "google" is more seen as female. Maybe because of "die Suchmaschine / die Google-Suche". So in german we ask "Tante Google" (Aunt Google) for help.;-)
best regards Angel
sorry, I didn't answer yet. The Forum doesn't work very well at the moment so your answers slipped by me.
First. "Kannst Du das nochmal sagen? oder Kannst Du das bitte wiederholen." Sounds for me correct. "Kannst Du das wieder sagen?" sounds weird to me. Unfourtunatly I can't tell you why. But I promise to look it up. (I see I can learn here a lot about my first language. too)
Correct sentence: "Das Wort wird klein und zusammen geschrieben." Sloppy sentence as an quick answer in the office for example "klein und zusammen" Sloppy question: " Schreibt man das groß oder klein?" Sloppy answer "klein". But we don't have an extra word for that. We just cut it sometimes when we speak.
best regards Angel
yes it is correct hell- means light
dunkel- means dark
zum beispiel … Musste Ich ihren dunkelgrau lidschatten leihen aus. " i had to borrow her dark grey eyeshadow"
Yes, dark colors can be described with the prefix "dunkel" in contrast to "hell" for light. ;o)
Yes, that's correct, hell- and dunkel- can be added to every colour.
I've never seen zusammen used in that context. Together and small? Es tut mir leid aber Ich verstehe das nacht. Kannst du es weider sagen?
They are written together. If theyre a noun they get capitalized, if theyre an adjective then you do not capitalize them.
because we have such a "simple" and "straight" spelling in german we cut things like this off, sorry for that.^^
Ich verstehe das nicht. Kannst Du das nochmal sagen? Natürlich, gerne. :-)
Zusammen (geschrieben) und klein (geschrieben) also dunkelrot, hellbraun.
Wenn jemand sagt "klein und getrennt" oder guten Abend "getrennt und Abend groß" denk Dir immer geschrieben dazu, dann verstehst Du es.
liebe Grüße Angel
okay. So it's nochmal not weider? I understood the first 4 sentences but I apologies I found the fifth one quite confusing. So I think what you're trying to say is that I use nochmal and that (how light or dark) (colour) go together? As in 'dunkelrot' Please tell me if I'm wrong.
Oh I think I get it. So what you're trying to say I is when someone says 'klein und getrennt' It means like 'not capitalized and not joined'. And getrennt and Abend groß means 'separate but the starting letters are capitalized. Does German have a word for not capitalized or is it just 'klein'. As in small.
If its capitalized or not depends on which type of word youre using in the sentence.
I believe it works either way. Not too sure but nobody has corrected me yet.
