Fluency Rating ceiling?

My German fluency on Duolingo has just been rated at 65%. Does anybody know how high this can go? I am not interested in any discussion about why the fluency percentage rating is nonsense, so please could you avoid posting on that topic in this discussion. Many thanks :-)

You're about as high as it goes. And sorry, but the "fluency" number is complete nonsense.

In English I reached 75% and in German 62%.
However, German is my mother tongue. :-(
In both languages I am in the 18th level. All the best, Verostee

Maybe then then fluency rating has a depth of time component in the algorithm. I'm level 25 in German. Thank you.

I think you have to practice a lot because my fluency goes up when i don't level anything up also when i complete skills so i think it's just how much you use duolingo also i think how quickly you answer questions plays a roll also when i don't use duolingo for a while my fluency goes down so it also has something to do with activity so i hope this helped bye.

I did the whole Italian from English tree in 200 days, have got over 58000 xps and my fluency level is 59% at the moment. I did the reverse tree English from Italian in almost no time, have over 26000 xps but my fluency level is 75%. Interesting, isn't it?

That is interesting. I might give the German reverse tree a go. Thank you.

Hi Steve, according to Duolingo, I have reached 67 % in German and 77 % in English. (I think the vocabulary is a decisive component.)

67% -very impressive :-)

(I think the vocabulary is a decisive component.)

What is your amount of words in the "Words tab" (https://www.duolingo.com/words) in your courses? I am curious, because I think, your very high "Duolingo fluency%" is especially caused by

  • Level 17 within 3 months
  • very few mistakes
  • more than 30 XP for each course daily
(according to the parameters in this web page
http://duolingo.wikia.com/wiki/Decay , read from "Word decay")

My results in
- German for English speakers: 2732 words, level 22, 60% in about a year
- English for German speakers: 1837 words, level 17, 71% in about 10 months
- English for Dutch speakers: no "Words tab", level 23, highest: 76% (at the moment 73%, due to only 10xp per day instead of 30xp) in about 14 months
(Dutch is my mother tongue)

The highest Duolingo % I have ever seen:
English: 78%
German: 67%

Some really interesting stuff there. Thank you very much indeed for taking all that effort, and explaining it so well. Very much appreciated :-) :-). I have 2581 words in my "Words" tab.

It depends on the course. English courses can go into the seventies. Some courses can only go into the low fifties.

Persistence pays off! Just as I got up-rated to 64% today and I thought I'd caught up with you. Still have 65% to aim for - have a lingot Steve!

Persistence indeed! Many thanks for the lingot, Gallimaufrey.

Interestingly, after a significant run of not making any errors on Duolingo, my fluency rating has just been put at 66% – just a week or so after moving up to 65%. I say interesting, because I was stuck at 64% for some months.
