Close/Deactivate Account

[deactivated user]

Somebody has somehow created a Duolingo account using my e-mail address.

How do I get the account closed/deactivated?

I've reset the password and signed in to post this but I don't want the user to lose their progress.

I'm a little disappointed that Duolibgo doesn't perform some sort of verification for a user's e-mail address to avoid this sort of thing happening.

I would rather have e-mailed support directly instead of posting publicly but I couldn't find an address to contact.

There is no progress in this account.

There is no email address. You only have to follow the instructions in this link. https://support.duolingo.com/hc/en-us/articles/206194156-Someone-created-a-Duolingo-account-with-my-email-How-can-I-remove-it-and-unsubscribe-

clearly Duolingo hasn't verified whether the Duolibgo user owns the associated e-mail address.

Yes, many people have already complained about that for many years.

Just to clarify, the user (https://www.duolingo.com/royalty692344) has used my e-mail address to sign up to Duolingo.

I've reset the password in an attempt to close/deactivate the account and stop the alerts I keep receiving.

They don't have access to my e-mail account but clearly Duolingo hasn't verified whether the Duolibgo user owns the associated e-mail address.

Hey, you should be able to delete their account! If you know that it's your email and your password, then they hacked your's! They might even hack your privacy!! Pls report this and also delete this so that you won't have future consequences! Don't forget to report this to the Duolingo authorities. If you can take a screenshot, that would help them!!

      That really doesn't help.
