I would say it is correct. When a professional photographer has a job, he goes on a "photo shoot".

I think this is correct (correct me if I'm wrong), though it's not really something I would say. Better to just stick with the version without 'er' ;).

It's slang, but yes, it is correct in American English. However, many Americans would avoid saying "shot" due to sensitivity about guns.

Not when its obvious the topic is photos. I've never met anyone that was enough of a snowflake to tiptoe around the word "shot" in this context.
