"Michael has the vinegar and Daniel has the oil."
Translation:Mihai are oțetul și Daniel are uleiul.
Since when can "iar" be translated as "and"???
There's a certain difference when I look in the dictionary....
There are some cases when "iar" and "și" can be used interchangeably in Romanian, i.e. when there is a contrast/difference implied. In English, this would correspond to either "while" (nontemporal sense) or "and". This is as opposed to a simple enumeration, where only "și" is acceptable. An example of this difference can be found here.
