Nést for lay eggs should be easy to remember!

I put Má kuřata nechtějí nést vajíčka and this was marked wrong. I thought there were other sentences where kuře was used for "chicken" even though it wasn't talking about them in the context of eating them. Is this incorrect word usage here or just an acceptable translation that was missing?

No, kuře is the young chicken that people eat, not the one that lays eggs, only slepice does that.

nevzalo to "Me slepice nechteji klast vejce"

Ptáci vajíčka snášejí či nesou. Kladou je vetřelci, plazi, obojživelníci, ryby, plži, hmyz...

What's wrong with "Moje slepice nechtějí položit vejce."?

In this sentence, the difference between 'položit' and 'nést' is about the same as between 'place' and 'lay'. Hens do not place eggs. :)
