아무 means 'any'. So 아무도 없다 is 'There isn't anyone=There's no one' 아무 말이나 해봐 means 'Tell me anything(something)'

데 means '~place'. In most cases you can change it with 곳. For example, 갈 데가 없다=갈 곳이 없다= I don't have a place to go.

How can you tell the difference between 아무때나 and 아무데나 in spoken Korean??

In 아무 때나, try to notice the tongue of the person and see how it flickers outside.

Make sure they don't think you're a creep ;)

The woman's pronunciation is incorrect. Sounds like she isn't a native speaker and has an accent. Also her vocal pitches are weird..like an opera singer's vibrato...no one speaks like that when speaking korean, so don't follow the woman's korean pronunciation nor her vocal pitch

The ㅐ sound in 아무 때나 has a slightly higher pitch than ㅔ in 아무데나

I wish people would give complete answers instead of partial ones! The tensing of ㄸ does have the phonetic effect of raising the pitch of the following vowel, but the OTHER important difference is that ㄸ in 아무때나 is unvoiced and tensed (produced with greater force and with throat muscles constricted), while ㄷ in 아무데나 is voiced and plain.

What do these words mean individually?

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/wintertriangles

아무 = any, 데 = place, 나 = used in conjunction with 아무 like "아무_나"

아무거나 = anything, 아무때나 = anytime, 아무나 = anyone

I find it helpful to open Google translate and place it beside this website. Both for Korean to english and for english to korean.

Google can't always be trusted

Obviously, but it's pretty good for 1 word translations and shows the frequency of its use.

I prefer Naver Dictionary. It gives you mutiple meanings with various sentence examples amd many more useful features for practice.

Why are 'anywhere' and 'anytime' sometimes translated the same (아무 데나 ) on Duolingo?

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/Winston298006

I thought so, too, but they're slightly different: "Anywhere" is 아무 데나 and "anytime" is 아무때나.

I had 아무때나 accepted for anywhere

Anatomically impossible, Mr. Garibaldi. But you're welcome to try. Anytime. Anywhere.
