French question regarding gender?
If a question says, “Vous êtes étudiant?”. Should I just reply as, “Oui, je suis étudiante.”? -ps I’m a girl.
Was the one who asked the question blind because he did not see that you were a student girl.
« Êtes-vous étudiante ? »
Each language has it own unique grammar.
You will notice differences between English and French.
It is very important to also use the correct article in French. My first French teacher would say to me, "French is a specific language".
Let us try to pose it this way.
Would it be correct in English to say :
"I am student" , or "I am a student" ?
"une" and "un" mean "a" in English.
"la" and "le" mean "the"
However French does use articles slightly differently to English. To speak the language, you need to learn how native speakers use their language.
Thank you also for your questions.
For the silliest question is one that you do not know the answer to, and it is important for you to know the answer to.
I hope I have been of some help to you.
Someone else may come by soon, and also provide a different way to explain this.
So - please do keep asking the questions that you have on this language you are learning.
It is such a pleasure to see you here.
