Weirdest version of rock paper scissors I've ever heard of

It's not the Korean version of rock paper scissors. That's 가위 바위 보.

The correct translation of '돌' is stone, not rock.('바위' for this one).

Stone and rock can be used interchangeably for the most part. 바위 translates better to boulder, or at least a large rock.

바위 is also used in Rock Scissors Paper

We call rock and stone "돌". The difference between rock and stone is the size of the object. If it is big we can say it "돌" or "바위".but if it is small we don't call it "바위". Also in korean-korean dictionary "바위" is "Huge 돌"(부피가 매우 큰 돌).
