Do we drop words when speaking?

Example: "Je mange une pomme et elle mange du pain."

When she speaks it, it sounds like she drops "elle" during the sentence. Is that correct? It is spoken fairly fast and I'm just starting out but around the "et elle" something seems a little off.

I think this is a problem concerning the computer voice. Normally, the "et" is harder to hear than the "elle". But you are absolutely right that this is a difficult combination because "elle" starts with the same vowel, so there is only a very brief stop between the two words.
