Do you know how difficult it is to "Type what you hear" when you hear NOTHING?

I can't tell you how frustrated I am becoming with the Dutch course. First its demands are SO restrictive that the slightest deviation gets you a wrong answer where in most other courses you may have gotten a "typo". Your skills degrade VERY fast.. and now I'm online... hearing the exercises but halfway through them... the audio goes KAPUT! (Or Kapot!) So I have NO WAY to get credit even for exercises I want to complete. and THIRDLY I did the "strengthen" for compound nouns... struggling through every one I had to miss because I didn't hear the audio... but even though I completed the strengthen TWICE... I'm still not getting my completed (gold) lesson... heck, there's only three skills to do... I mean I could have just done all three! What is UP with this? Is Dutch still in Beta... or what has caused this course to go so much on the fritz!?! I really would like to know!

I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing troubles with the course.

Unfortuntately, we, the contributors, can't decide whether a typo should be accepted or not. I'm not sure if the program itself decides that or if the Duo staff decides it somehow.

As for the technical problems with the sound, maybe this page can help you: https://support.duolingo.com/hc/en-us/articles/204882510-My-sound-is-not-working-What-can-I-do-

Ah, I was thinking it was my computer! I've got a problem with no audio right now on a "type what you hear" question, but it's only just happened tonight - it hasn't been like it the whole time since Tree 2.0 was released. I've just dropped in to the discussions to see if there are any known technical issues tonight.

I'm not getting "type what you hear" audio in ANY languages, not just dutch. However I thought it was an issue with Chrome, as previously when I tried another browser it worked fine.

There was a Dutch Tree 2.0 added. That might be why your tree is acting up.

Your microphone is only working in the Chrome browser, since the start of the rewrite of Duolingo's web version.

First its demands are SO restrictive that the slightest deviation gets you a wrong answer where in most other courses you may have gotten a "typo".

Recently, this has changed in many courses, not only in Dutch.

Is Dutch still in Beta.

The course Dutch 2.0 is in beta. Only 50% of the Dutch learners has this version 2.0.

Oh, good to know I'm doing a beta version of a course :-) So do I understand it correctly that I should report (usually I have to do it through the comments as Report doesn't provide such opportunity) whenever I find a situation that a word comes in a course in a way where it is required (in listening or writing) but without any prior chance to see it? Well, I do so anyway, just wanted to make sure it's OK.

Posting about it in the comments doesn't really help. It is better to write a detailed report here: https://support.duolingo.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

i had the same problem on my phone but not on my laptop... I found that disabling the sound in my settings on my laptop before going out - when i would be using my phone - then enabling sound again when i got home worked... Because the sound was disabled in my settings I wouldn't get any listening questions... It's not the best solution I know but it worked for me... Until i figured it out i was typing random letters "kjnhuhn" then writing down the solutions & playing phrase "russian roulette" until i had finally got to the end... Frustrating as hell yes... but it got me through for two days!
