Are there any general rules for distinguishing masculine versus feminine nouns in French? Like how in Spanish generally the nouns ending in -o are masculine and those ending in -a, -d, -ion are feminine?
here's a handy site http://www.french-linguistics.co.uk/grammar/le_or_la_in_french.shtml
I dont get it like theres a "e" at the end so isnt it femenine
I think that rule doesn't apply here. Livre is masculine, and it is easier if we memorise that.
