Japanese Typing Exercises...and more Kanji Appearing in Hover-over Hints
Wow! I saw someone posted today in the forums about encountering open-ended typing exercises and I went back to the course and I saw that it has them now!
This is fantastic; I can now type in Kanji too. I also noticed that some of the hover-over hints that didn't have Kanji before have had Kanji added.
I am super impressed at how quickly this course has been improving. Just a couple of days ago I was rather grumpy and put it on the back burner after dabbling it but I am seeing such huge improvements that I think it's worth sticking with it for now!

I just started this course the day before the change, and when I saw that the "multiple choice" text boxes were gone, I panicked. I spent a good hour trying to figure out how to get around having to type in the answers myself before giving up and installing the Microsoft IME for a Japanese keyboard. Fast forward just a couple days later, and I'm already so, so glad that this change was made. The keyboard itself isn't a headache to use at all and I can tell I'm learning so much more this way. I'm finding some of your posts now on various threads and I want to thank you for having such a strong stance on the matter, because you were absolutely right!
I'm only getting the option to type for certain kinds of exercises. Here is where I'm finding the option: https://i.imgur.com/DusdfrY.png
There are at least two possibilities. Either your screen size is too big so it's been edged out of the picture. Or, it's still being tested and you're not in the test group.
What I will say is that it is extremely hard during timed practice, because I have to switch between keyboards and I'm not smooth at that yet. I keep getting the romaji option and then have to click the IME option and select hiragana. But, my not being smooth at switching back and forth is totally on my side, not theirs.
This is slightly off-topic, but for people like me who are stuck with the word bank, here is a user script that can make it more accessible: link
