どこ is where

どこ + も = anywhere (no matter where + also)

に...行きます = going to somewhere

You need to put the に after どこ and before も to make どこにも行きません = Going to nowhere

I'm not so sure. Isn't どこでも 'anywhere', and どこも 'everywhere'?

Wouldn't it be fine if the sentence also didn't have は in it? きのう どこにも行きませんでした。
