Finnish any time soon?

Does anyone know if Finnish would be a course offered in the future? I know that I could use other courses but I prefer Duolingo for starting languages and I know there was push for Finnish a few years ago.

Here is the post requesting the Finnish language, it's now three years old, and at the present time, with 2591 upvotes: https://www.duolingo.com/comment/3377185

Here's hoping. :)

Yeah, you might want to open that discussion up in another page. It has a lot of comments :)

Yeah I've seen that post but nothing much since then! There was also people tweeting the CEO but I don't have twitter so I'm not sure how true that was.

I wish it was, but we won't know until Duolingo puts the course it in the incubator. There are volunteers enough, but the staff seem to give priority to other languages.

If you want to learn Finnish, I suggest you get started elsewhere. I started two years ago and I can already plow through children's books. I'm glad I didn't wait for Duolingo. :)

These lessons in Duolingo discussions are good: https://www.duolingo.com/comment/10579104/All-the-Slow-Finnish-lessons-in-one-place there's also a complementary course on Memrise to practise the lessons properly.

Have you started on Memrise? https://www.memrise.com/courses/english/finnish/
It seems there are no offical 1-7 courses from the Memrise staff.

Have you tried Mondly: https://www.duolingo.com/comment/23524002/Mondly-languages-added-19-new-topics-to-their-tree

Some weeks ago I heard about "uTalk", but I have not tested it and I also do not know if they may support Finnish.

uTalk supports Finnish, and around 130+ more languages.

I've tried memrise but I don't like it as much as Duo, I currently have it to practice swedish but to me its not that great to start off with new languages. I end up writing the notes and words from the lessons on duolingo and memrise doesn't have that unfortunately. I'll try utalk tho for help with swedish! thanks for that suggestion

If you use Memrise please note you should use their website (instead of the app) and install many available user scripts, e.g "all typing", "auto correct", to make full use of it, especially typing in the L2 target language Swedish for reviews and to eliminate multiple-choice exercise questions.

Hi, this link is very helpful in what to do if you want a new course on Duolingo: https://www.duolingo.com/comment/15014194/GUIDE-I-would-like-a-new-course-What-should-I-do . Other links you can check out: https://www.duolingo.com/comment/3377185 (a request for the Finnish language course which took place three years ago) and https://www.duolingo.com/topic/1/top (top Duolingo discussions of all time, including language courses that have been requested). In addition, if you want, you can also apply to contribute to a course at https://incubator.duolingo.com/ . You can also check out this link: https://support.duolingo.com/hc/en-us/articles/204979660-How-can-I-suggest-a-new-language-course- , which is pretty similar to what the previous links are talking about. Check out these articles, they may help you. I'm sorry if I could not be of more help; I tried my best. I wish you good luck in your language learning journey and have a great day!

Maybe try Clozemaster? It's not perfect, but aside from Mondly and Memrise that were mentioned by Thomas.Heiss in this thread, I don't know any other application offering a Finnish course.

Oh, there are also some courses made by Anki users, but I'm not sure how useful they are:

It HAS to come in the future. It's too highly requested for it NOT to come in the future.

Its very much like Russia and Swedish, which Duo has both and I'm surprised they have a course for that star trek (not a star trek person forgive me) language, which is a made up language and not one for Finland.

I make youtube videos in Finnish, but well it's maybe for advanced learners who want to listen to colloquial Finnish used in everyday life and currently I don't have subtitles. But in case you're interested I can tell the name of my channel.

I think the course won't come for a long time in Duolingo. The best place to learn is maybe Memrise before that. I'm using Lingq.com to improve my language skills in many languages and I think they had also Finnish, so you can maybe use that also.

I know nothing from finish except for hullu, saatana, and Perkele. You could try adding your user under a finnish tag for others who are more advanced than me! I wouldn't know anything unless you cursed on camera unfortunate :)
