I've completed the Turkish course a while back and now I'm doing the Romanian course. My question is, why are there such different standards for subject matter? In terms of animals for example, the Turkish course taught me words like "crab" and "turtle", but the Romanian one teaches words like "donkey."
The Romanian course teaches the word for turtle too; broască țestoasă. I think the words depend on what the creators of the course consider useful for us to know. If you want specific words you could always look them up. Personally I really like the extended list of farm animals etc. that helps you practice gender declensions while increasing vocab.
