I need to reset my password but one question..
I forgot my old password so, if you log out then try to log back in, and then click "forgot my password" you have to enter your email, right? but if you do, does it send the old password to you by email?
first I would double check that the email you put in is a) real b) input properly You can check it here: https://www.duolingo.com/settings/account
When you log out and click "forgot password", it will send a reset link to the email you've saved in your account settings. Once it arrives, you'll need to click on it. It will take you to a page that allows you to create a new password. But, it won't tell you your old password. Duolingo does not save passwords on its servers.
Duo must save the password, otherwise how does it know you have given the correct password when you login. Most likely the password is encrypted before it is saved but it must get saved somewhere.

Hmm... this has gotten a bit more technical than I am. I guess I can't speak with any official authority. It was more an assumption of why Duolingo can't just send someone their old password, but instead required them to create a new one. I figured that, outside of taking letter by letter and storing it on a database, there was some mechanism that was beyond me to understand.
So, everyone, clearly bunny has no idea what they are talking about in this case. :)
You'll need to edit the fake email you've got registered and replace it with a real one then and press the green "Save" button after. Otherwise, you're stuck. :(
