For everyone who is wondering why we don't pronounce the "e" in "femme"... Usually, in French, you don't pronounce the last letter. You only pronounce the last letter of the word if the last letter is a C R F or L. A good way to remember that is the word careful. CaReFuL.

Is "La femme" a seriously wrong usage when translated for "A woman"?
La femme would mean 'the woman', while une femme would refer to 'a woman'
So, 'a' refers to something common while 'the' refers to something particular?
Exactly. "Une/a" is referring to an undefined woman whereas "La/the" refers to a specific woman. So it's not a terrible wrong mistake to make, people would most likely understand you if you mixed up the too. But using the right one makes you more accurate.
this is so easy what I do is write the word down and what it means on a pieace of paper and when it pops up again I just look on the paper
can someone please give me a lingot?i am broke and only have five.how do you earn them?
“la“ and “une“ are definition word the using of this definition depend on the writer comment.
Cause une means a feminine and un means a masculine and la means the and its feminine and le means the masculine
I am learning all the languages on doulingo, and sometimes it makes no sense. Une is female, and Un is male
if the word woman starts with W than why is it une? Because you only say une if the word after starts with a vowel right?
No, you say "une" when the name that comes after is feminine. "Woman" is feminine (nothing surprising there) so you need to use "une".
This is really easy Because you just hear it and you know what it means
It would be grammatically incorrect to accept both. "La" is the definite article and "une" is the indefinite one. In this case, the phrase to translate is "A woman", with an indefinite article, so you need to use the indefinite article in the French phrase too.
I thought it was a trick for it to be femme and when I got it right I was like"Oh!"cuz I thought it was famme.Nayboady else thought that way? Please follow me.
"Une" is the indefinite article ("a" in English) and "la" is the definite ("the" in English).
When saying "un" you are referring to a male and/or male object, while une is used for females and/or female objects. With objects having the meaning that in french, for example even a house or car is male or female
"The woman" would be "la femme". "Une" is the indefinite article so it's "a woman".
If i give a wrong answer in tap the pairs question, I don't get chance to correct my answer.
Isnt it weird that saying sentences backwards creates backward sentences saying how weird it is
First I have said this before and I will say it again do you have to be a good time
"Ferme" (farm) is pronounced as if you had an accent on the "e" and has a "r" sound. "Femme" (woman) is pronounced [fam], with a clear "a" sound and no "r".
