why there is not sound [r] in pire [pir], or if my listening is not correct?

Il y a le son /r/, mais car il est au fin du mot, c'est difficile d'écouter et on le ne prononce pas très fort.

@SmashCookie: Thank you very much for your comment!

我在中国北京, 正在学习法语! 不过只学会了一丁点儿:) I am a native Chinese speaker. Je parle aussi Englais. J‘appends le Français, alors je veux parler et pratiquer plusieurs phrases, pas seulement écrire.

I do not quite understand your last sentence. do you mean that you want to compete with me on learning process? (google translation makes me think so, y/n?)

Best regards!

Hello. No, I meant to say that I'm eager (J'ai hâte) for the upcomming Duolingo's chinese course. Sorry if you didn't understood, besides basic phrases I can't speak fluently, it might have been my mistake.

(I didn't used a translator this time exept for a word)

Allô Smashcookie, Tu parles bien françai. Je pense que j'ai les comprendu bien aussi cette fois. J'aime les mots de si et mais et autres conjonctions que tu as écrit. Main je seulement parle 'je suis, j'ai, je fais, etc'.

BTW, if you have any questions on learning chinese at Duo, i may be of help. Du courage! I wish to learn little Spanish later either.

The reasons that i want to learn French come from my memory and my work.

When i was in middle school, i learnt a course topic is 'my last lesson'. the author said that french is most beautiful language in the world. it made me a good impression to learn french later. So i chose a short semester of french study at college life (about 20 classes?). In fact i forget everything because i have not touched any french for these 20 years.

Now i am waiting for two french business partners to visit me next month. I hope to pick up a little bit of french. Maybe i will chat with my partners on some occasions.

These are two reason why i want to learn french. I do not know much about french culture background. But i begin falling love with french because i found so many similarities between french and chinese.

Salut Justin.

Thanks for your offer. Same, if you want to learn Spanish, I can help you whenever!

Allow me to correct some words, I'm not an expert but I'll try my best. Bon courage!

Salut, I am sorry to hear that your long story disappeared before it was saved/sent. It often happens to Internet users. :) French is difficult for me, English too. Sino-tibetan one is very different from Indo-european languages. we describe things by Hieroglyphic which means if we write English 'sun' in Chinese, we draw a circle with a dot in it. there is also no verb changes. BUT it is very very difficult to write, to remember, to learn. languages always like that. It depends on how much time we spend on it. I think we all will do well if we continue to learn, to do... i am practicing French on Duo comments and email exchanges with some friends. that's all

Bonsoir Justin! Ow, the replies are limited and I can't reply in your last comment but instead in the one before, I hope you read it.

And don't worry I didn't took too long to rewrite it since I remembered most of the the French bit I wrote. French takes a lot more time when I try to write it, with the English I feel à l'aise and I'm noticeabily faster.

I agree with you that it takes time. And yes, some languages are easier for each culture, for example the English I have been learning steadily for like 5 years and the French only a few months but since it shares his latin roots with Spanish I can already read it and understand many cognates between the two without need to learn a lot of new grammar rules. I hope some day I can be able to speak Chinese as good as you speak english. Ça a l'air très compliqué.

I've some questions isn't the Chinese character for the sun like this 日? Or you mean the original character? and have you found any differences between our way of thinking in our occidental cultures and your oriental culture based on the language?
