What are Skills Points (not XP)?

I received a "XXX is following you" email today and I noticed that it said XXX has 877 Skill Points (133 fewer than you)

I checked my account: I have 3060 XP from activies over the 6 weeks I've been here, so the maths seems to confirm it's not XP. I thought perhaps it was based on common languages - except we have none in common.

I've searched in Discussions and Wikia, but found nothing relevant.

I'd be grateful if someone could explain what Skill Points are and where I check mine - many thanks :o)

"Skill points" in those e-mails are just XP in the language where you have the most.

You have 1010 XP in Welsh at the moment. 1010=877+133

Thank you! Clear concise answer :o)

Have a lingot for putting my mind at rest :oD

This article https://support.duolingo.com/hc/en-us/articles/204905880-What-are-skill-points-or-XP- suggests that skill points are the same thing as XP, but you are correct, the maths does not support this. Previous forum discussions about this also point to skill points = XP, e.g. https://www.duolingo.com/comment/15731421.

Thanks - your assessment is good, and I'm still confused about the maths!! Ah well, it may well be a shrug
