Hello everyone! Today is Halloween... What are you going to be for halloween? What are you going to do today on halloween? I'm going to be a vampire! However, we are still deciding whether we are going trick or treating, or staying home to give out candy.
I know you're probably thinking what is the point of this discussion because it has nothing to do with languages. So, here is a fun activity:
Write in the comments below the translation of these words in the language you are learning!
- Black cat
- Full moon
- Sweets (Candy)
- Trick or Treat
- Scary Costume
- Happy Halloween!
I hope you guys have fun translating these words and don't forget to tell us what you are doing and what you will be for Halloween. Thanks!
- Liliac (my favorite word)
- Pisica neagra
- Luna plina
- Ne daţi ori nu ne daţi
- Costum infricosator
- Halloween Fericit!
This was a fun activity! I'm not sure what I'm going to be, it's going to be one of those last minute costumes, lol. But a vampire sounds cool!
For Halloween, I'm going as a werewolf and eating the middle schoolers who spam the forums! (￣▽￣)
Just kidding! I'm not really doing anything for Halloween (besides giving out and eating candy).
However, I am celebrating its predecessor, Samhain, because I'm Wiccan. I will be meditating, honoring my ancestors and the beginning of Gaelic Winter. I have a playlist of Samhain music here, if anyone's interested.
Anyway, here are the translations in French and Italian:
- Monstre, Mostro
- Fantôme, Fantasma
- Zombie, Zombie
- Pirate, Pirate
- Sorcière, Strega
- Vampire, Vampiro
- Loup-garou, Lupo mannaro

Halloween is not even remotely as popular in Finland as it is in the US so I'm spending it as myself studying languages.
I am not going to be anything for Halloween this year.I live out in the middle of nowhere and the closest house is 2 miles.(just one house). So we are just going to watch horror movies tonight. I bought a bag of candy so i will just eat that tonight and hang out.I am not far enough in Norwegian to recite all of theses words. But have a Frohlich Halloween! (translation Happy Halloween I am German so this is my native language doesnt really count to do your activity.
A story about a dentist who is buying candy from kids. He says all that sugar isn't good for their teeth.
When I was a little kid, my dad thought that candy wasn't good for kids, so he was giving potatoes, turnips, and carrots instead but the kids got mad. When I was 11, I remember some kids came trick or treating. My dad started telling them stories. When I got back from Halloweening, those same kids were still there and my dad was still talking. They never got to do much Halloweening, I guess.
I'm gonna need some help with DeepL for some of these...
14: Luna llena
18: Truco o trato
19: Traje de miedo
20: Feliz Halloween!
I guessed for some of these, used a translator for the ones I was totally stumped on, e.g Werewolf, and I totally gave up on No. 8 :D
