Lingots - how do they know?

I've been seeing a lot of people saying that they can see how many lingots someone else has... How does this work?

They're probably using the /users/ notation. Basically, when you're in a profile (say user "ArthroPod"), the URL is duolingo.com/ArthroPod. If you insert "users/" between the "/" and "A" of the URL, you get duolingo.com/users/Arthropod. This page contains a bunch of jumbled JSON text which stores info about the user, from when they practiced to (presumably) how many lingots they have.

Identified in the code as "rupees," if I recall correctly.

Good to know, thank you. I have yet to decipher most of the data within the code.

How do you look at a specific user?
